your creative space?What does your creative space look like?
Does this look like your creative space? Do you have a space where you go to create that inspires you or do you sit down at a desk or anywhere and start the creative process. I have begun to notice that to be creative even if it means brainstorming a new idea I am working on I need a space that is creatively inspiring. A clean space with some images or thoughts posted that get me in the creatively inspired mood.

Go take a look at where you create most of the time and ask your self does this place inspire me? (Do it now. Stop reading this and do it. I will be here when you get back.) Okay so what are the results. Are you inspired by this space?

A few ideas to get your space into a creatively inspiring feeling;
  1. Clean the space up
  2. Clear out all the clutter and stacks of papers.
  3. Put up at one say, phrase or image that gets you into the creative mind set
  4. Change the lighting in the space to something that is not to hard on your eyes though enough light to read and write.
  5. Often times if I am working on writing or a new idea I find that non-distracting instrumental music can help as well. ie jazz or Brain Eno.
  6. Make sure this is a space you can get some privacy.
  7. Can you block out external distraction. ie no telephone calls, TVs
  8. Add some color to the space. Hang some thing up or can you paint something.
  9. Go for a walk or clear your head with a short pause or meditation to get all the distracting thoughts out of your head.
  10. Before you go to this space remember a time when you where extremely creative and all that feeling to fill you up.
Your creative space is not only the physical space you use to create, it also includes the space between your two ears.

        You have to get your mind and soul ready to create. Creating a space in yourself that is open, resourceful and ready for new ideas is as important to having a place that allows you to come into creative ideas. Can you set a time apart for your self during the day to allow for all the day to day clutter in your mind to be cleaned out so that you are mentally and emotionally ready for those new creative inspirations?

        Once you have gone through this list of things and cleared your space out try this space again when it is time to be creative and see what happens.
Do you have any other ideas or things you do to get yourself into a creative space and start the process? Leave a comment and share.
